Orange Oil takes integrated pest management for drywood termites to the next level. Orange Oil Termiticide for drywood termites is a naturally occurring essential oil containing the active ingredient d-limonene. Derived from orange rinds, it is used in a variety of products from pet shampoos to household cleaners. Orange Oil is 92% pure d-limonene.
D-limonene in orange oil is so devastating to termites because of the high citric acid content. Of minimal consequence to humans, this highly acidic pH level will melt the exoskeletons and eggs of termites that come in contact with it. When injected directly into areas of termite infestation, orange oil kills termites and their eggs on contact. Orange Oil is so effective, termites can also die if they eat any wood that has been recently treated with the product.
Orange Oil wicks through wood, traveling through the porous cells in all directions and even defying gravity. Orange oil will not only treat the areas into which it is injected, but will also soak into the surrounding areas.
Treatment
Full Structure
With the use of proper techniques, Orange Oil can be used to treat an entire structure for drywood termites. With Orange Oil, a structure can be fully treated within a minimal amount of time.
Drill and Treat Method
The basic method for using Orange Oil, drilling in a staggered pattern from the point of infestation maximizes the coverage of a single treatment. An effective drill pattern ensures the saturation of both the infected and surrounding wood with Orange Oil targeting the termites where they live and where they might escape to. A generous amount of Orange Oil is injected into the holes at low pressure, soaking the porous cells of the wood being treated.
Scope and Treat
The reason Orange Oil can be used to treat an entire structure is due to the scope and treat method. Areas once considered inaccessible become visible through the use of boroscopes, similar to those used in complicated surgeries.
When the suspected area of infestation is located, an entry point is drilled in the surrounding material to insert the boroscope. If a concealed area is found to be infested with the boroscope, the area is then treated with the drill and treat method using Orange Oil.
