| "STATE CERTIFIED" for AFRICANIZED HONEY BEE! |
|
| Bees
Size: 1/2-inch in length. Honeybees are the only type of
social bee that establish perennial colonies that may survive a decade
or longer. All honeybee colonies produce queens and drones in the
spring. These reproductives mate, and the queens may "abscond" with a
number of workers to start new colonies. Occasionally, a colony will
decide to nest inside a crawl space, an attic, a wall void, or a
chimney in a home.
Location: Because the Africanized honeybee cannot be
distinguished from its native cousins without detailed scientific
measurements, any honeybee nest or swarm found in the southwestern
states should be respected at a safe distance. Only experienced
beekeepers and/or pest management professionals should be contacted to
deal with colonies or swarms of honeybees. Never attempt to treat such
nests without the proper training and equipment. There are 20 stinging/biting insects such as fleas, ticks, mites, bees, hornets, and wasps.

| Fire Ants
Size: There are many sizes of workers in the colony, ranging
from 1/8-inch to almost 3/8-inch in length. Fire ants pose a health
risk to anyone venturing into areas where the ants are found. Although
the vast majority of stings result only in a raised welt that may
develop a white pustule, some may result in major health problems. Fire
ants may construct mounds next to the foundation and enter homes
through weep holes or other exterior cracks and holes. Once inside,
workers forage in trails beneath the edge of carpeting. On occasion,
the ants will bring soil up into walls or beneath first floor bathrooms
and construct a nest.
Location: Over-the-counter fire ant baits can be effective if
properly used, but regular applications are necessary because the ants
readily reinvade from neighboring properties. There are 20 species of ants that may invade your home.

34-53 mm) long. The American cockroach, despite its name, is not native

world. It is also called "water bug", "Bombay canary" or "Palmetto bug".
